On the way to the Empire State Building, we saw a few other sights and took the subway to FAO Schwarz.
Jack said that he was just taking a picture of the flags ....
This was the first time we took the subway, which was clean and much improved over the last time we had ridden it.
FAO Schwarz is a NYC must for kids of all ages, but we were surprised that Toys R Us had a store that rivals it.
Now for the actual tour of the Empire State Building ...
Looking South from the 86th floor
Chrysler Building in the middle
Hard to see, but Central Park is at the top of the image.
Things look mighty scary from the 86th floor, so sitting inside the gift shop seems a wise choice.
I couldn't resist taking a pix of a bird 86 and 1/2 floors up, the highest digipix I've ever taken. Rock Pigeon (Columba livia).
Almost heaven!!! B&H is the photo store that has supplied most of my gear over the years.
We went to see 42nd Street at the Ford Center on 42nd Street, go figure. The Schubert Theater and Sardie's were nearby.
We met Janet's cousin Mike for lunch. He works at Ogilvy & Mather, one block from our hotel.
We took a nighttime Grayline tour of lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
This is the Manhattan skyline from the Manhattan Bridge.
The Statue of Liberty from Brooklyn
Brother Mike told me about the Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant. It was scary like a haunted house, but not as scary as our tunnel of doom at Halloween!
Daniel wasn't prepared for a haunted house restaurant, but the Doctor said it was okay.
We loved this gag. The woman(?) springs up out of her wheelchair! We want to try this next Halloween.
A highlight of the trip was the Hayden Planetarium in the Rose Center of the American Museum of Natural History.
